Thursday, November 16 2023, 12:00 PM EST, 30 min

Generative AI systems have gained incredible traction in the last year. Within two months of its release, Open AI’s ChatGPT became the fastest-growing online application to date. Systems that produce images from text prompts have also gone viral. The capabilities of generative AI are undeniably impressive. How do generative AI models work, and are they “thinking” like humans? MIT Horizon editor Abby Smith will walk through the mechanics of generative AI systems and share emerging applications. After the talk, Abby will take questions from the audience.
